The Alps

We had a great week in the Alps. First stop was Mommy's conference at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Though we missed Mommy during the day, we were able to do lots of fun things and of course sample some eis. We frequented the hotel pool and even went in the "hot-hot-pool" while it was snowing. The weekend took us across the border into Salzburg, Austria. We strolled the city, sampled local cuisine & music, and slept in a hotel building more than a thousand years old. We traveled to a nearby town, where Mommy and Jack explored some old salt mines. Check out the Photo Gallery for some more pics.

Row, Row, Row, Our arms are tired!

From Day 8 Cairo, Egypt

We are back from our 12 night cruise of the Mediterranean. Our web albums in the Photo Gallery tell the story of the cruise.

We had an enjoyable and "be-laxing" time. We were able to pin many new points on our travel map. The NCL Jade was a great ship. The boys loved spending time in their Kids' Club playing and doing crafts with their friends. Mom and Dad loved being able to eat grown-up dinners with our friends too. Eli and Jack were thrilled to have "Dobby" and Lizzie on the trip with them. The Pyramids would not have been the same on our own.

PS - If you don't understand the title of this post, you must know that before the cruise any mention of it caused Eli to say, "Row, row, row"... 3800+ miles is a long way!

Happy Birthday Jack!

We celebrated Jack's birthday with a trip to the BX, the KidsZone Pizza place, naps, then home for dinner with Lizzie and family. Of course, rice and beans was the chosen menu by the birthday boy. Mommy and Daddy made their best attempt at Baba's coconut cake, topped off with strawberries because "red is my favorite color and strawberries are red!"

Thanks to everyone for all the presents. I am set for life!

Milan and the Italian Lakes

We enjoyed a beautiful weekend in Italy. The first two days were spent in Milan. We shopped (though Matt may have subconsciously planned the trip for days when most shoe/purse stores were closed), ate gelato (several times), roamed castle grounds, found a festival (as usual), rode the metro (Eli's favorite), and climbed with the spires on top of one of the largest churches in the world!

On Monday, we took the real Choo-choo train to the town of Varenna on Lake Como. This quiet village was even quieter on this winter day. But the scenery was magnificent. We strolled the foothills of the same mountains that were visible from the top of Il Duomo in Milan just a day earlier. We could see the Swiss border not far to the northwest. We enjoyed a nice lunch with yet more Italian wine, played on another Italian spielplatz, climbed some steep lakeside pathways, and just watched the water traffic from the harbor. After the relaxing day, it was another trainride to Bergamo and the flight home.
